This young House label pops it's second release...definate dancelfloor pressure...remixes from FCL (San Soda + Red D) + Jus Ed (Underground Quality).
As a Belgian label run by a veteran Belgian DJ WPH Recordings just had to represent the ‘real’ Belgian sound. But what is the real Belgian sound? Is it the electronic body music of Front 242? The New Beat antics as they were ever present at the end of the ’80ies? The sounds of the legendary R&S label? The trance and rave sounds of the early to mid-nineties? Well, to us the real Belgian sound is a sound that knows no genres or boundaries, a sound full of energy aimed directly at the dancefloor.
‘Highway’ by Ramon Tapia & Maxim Lany was released as a digital only track by Definitive Recordings but got lost amidst the millions of mediocre tracks that make up the Beatport vortex. It has however been championed by both Maxim Lany, Ramon Tapia and WPH label boss Red D in the many sets they have played in 2008, and it never failed to create mayhem on the dancefloors. From small parties to big room clubs, everybody got onto the Highway… It was the perfect first track for a new series on WPH Recordings called ‘This Is Still Belgium’.
But keeping in line with the first two releases of the label we also present two deep remixes. The first one being the FCL Remix, the very first studio collaboration of San Soda and Red D. They created a true monster of a track that will appeal to a very wide range of dj’s and music lovers. Laying down three different melodies and turning it into one big Detroit ride, we can only look forward to more collaborations between San Soda and Red D.
For the second track on the A-side we counted on the talents of Mr Jus-Ed from Underground Quality in Baltimore. This house heavyweight does not need an introduction. He does things his way and also did this remix ‘My Way’. Mind you, he didn’t know he was actually remixing a remix. We checked, he’s cool with it. And we are certainly cool with the result.
On the B-side you will find the original track that has been causing such a storm in Belgium. Both Ramon Tapia and Maxim Lany are no strangers to the scene. Ramon has just released an album for Great Stuff Recordings and is receiving raving reviews everywhere. Maxim Lany is one of Belgium’s main dj’s in the minimal/electro scene with a very broad taste and a love for the deeper side of things.
All artists on this EP have one thing in common: they all play house…
