Novos Baianos had an inventive sound that was really a standout in 70s Brazilian music � a sense of earnest, open-handed music making that was something of a legacy from the Tropicalia years � but one that also carried with it some of the more hippie-dippy influences in the Brazilian underground of the early 70s! The style here is a bit sparer and more acoustic than on some of the group's other records � often comprised from samba percussion and guitar, but occasionally augmented by more electric instrumentation, as well as some folkloric flute!
