Grammy award-winningCongolese band,Konono N1hasteamedup withAngolan-born, Portugese-based producer,Batida blendingthe worlds of electronic beats and organic grooves to create this excitingstrain of Afro-electro music.

he release ispart ofCrammed Discs'acclaimed Congotronics series, which is devoted to the strange and spectacular electro-traditional mixtures which are being concocted in the suburbs of Kinshasa, Democtratic Rebublic of Congo.
The artists came together at theinvitation of Crammed Discsfounder,Marc Hollander, when hechallenged the producer to make analbum with the Congolese band. Despite a number of obstacles fromdifferent languages, working habits and references, the artists successfullyblendthe worlds of electronic beats and organic grooves to create this excitingstrain of Afro-electro music.

The album was produced by both Batida and Vincent Kenis, the originator and producer of Crammeds Congotronics series, devoted to exciting electro/traditional musical hybrids from the Congo. He "rediscovered" Konono N1 in the early 2000s and produced all of their albums since.
Batida is an Angolan-born and Lisbon-raised, radio, documentary and music producer. His first two albums on UK label, Soundway Records, garnered much praise from the media and artists like Stromae, who invited Batidato open for himon his tour and Damon Albarn, who invited him to remix a track and take part in the Africa Express project.
The album was recorded in Batidas garage-cum-studio in Lisbon with a series of collaborators and friends of Batidas, reflecting upon the citys vibrant, cosmopolitan music life: guitarist Papa Juju (the leader of Lisbons foremost Afro-fusion band, Terracotta), vocalist Selma Uamusse (one of the best young African singers currently residing in Portugal) and MC AF Diaphra, a distinguished slam poet and an artist/producer in his own right.
