Last Magpie makes his Electric Minds debut with the ‘Influences’ EP in April. The EP’s three original tracks combine the producer’s knack for punchy UK club tracks with elements of the pioneering electronic music that have informed his music tastes.
Inspirations from classic hardcore, jungle and garage loom large on EP opener ‘Mirdad’, while ‘Pledge’ takes things on an electro tip with nods to the sound’s leading mid-2000s exponents. ‘I Love Me’ juxtaposes light and moody elements for a heavier take on disco and Chicago house, while the EP is completed by a sublime Trevino remix, as the Soulr boss reshapes ‘Pledge’ into the kind of tough, hypnotic house he’s made his forte.
