This Viagem 10" is the first volume of a five-part vinyl only series dedicated to bringing some of the rarest and most sought after samba jazz and bossa gems to a new generation of record collectors. The majority of these tracks have only seen the light of the day on small 7" runs in 1960sBraziland they're next to impossible to find!
The dance fever commences with 'Onda Quebrando', a real nugget by Neyde Frega followed by an infectious version of Jorge Ben's classic 'Take it easy my brother Charlie' by Breno Sauer Quarteto. The A side is rounded out by two more swingin' bossa cuts by Elizabeth Viana and Dr. Severino and the rare 7" cut of 'Crepusculo' by Jazz 4! The B side sees one of the era's best trumpeters, Papudinho, bring forth 'Ye Mele', a boogaloo number full of life and energy. More brass action follows with two intoxicating cuts by Nelsinho & Os Ipanemas and Conjunto Sergio Carvalho with 'Babalao' & 'Balaio'.
'Neurotico' by Pedrinho Mattar Trio picks up the pace with a frantic interplay between the group's three instruments and Edith Vega closes the EP in fine style with the sultry vocal and organ-led strut of 'Matando a Miseria a Pau'.
