Ray & his Court are a family of musicians from Miami who still play together to this day, more than 30 years after these recordings were made. In the holidays they perform around Miami, playing latin, soul, funk and calypso for the tourists and aboad cruise ships in the Caribbean. Soul Freedom & Cookie Crumbs were recorded by Ray and his wife with their two sons when they were still at school. As funk bombs they stand out from the crowd with their original sound and latin-nfluenced arrangements. Where most bands use a saxophone we hear a freaked-out bass clarinet, instead of bongos we hear the unique Osi drums from Africa. Heavy funk makes it big for collectors & DJs today, and the intriguing sound and independent spirit makes these two tracks so very listenable and worthy of their renowned status in the collectors world.
