The Press Release says"
The Anecdotes is the debut album of Seamus Cater (UK/NL) and Viljam Nybacka (FN/NL), a multi-instrumentalist song duo
based in Amsterdam.
The anecdotes are a series of biographical song portraits of artists written by Seamus Cater. A diverse collection of 19th and 20th century figures are portrayed, including Bas Jan Ader,
Eadweard Muybridge, Alexis Lapointe, Ewan MacColl, L.S. Lowry and Sergei Prokofiev.
The music of Seamus Cater and Viljam Nybacka mixes the awkwardness of revivalist British folk with contemporary songwriting and extended instrumental techniques. With a core of subtle complexity, their sound builds more towards silence than noise and is as engaging as it is immersive. Known for the measured intensity of their live shows, the duo recently toured throughout Europe and America, silencing audiences even in the most raucous of rock clubs.
Recorded by Shahzad Ismaily (Bonnie 'Prince' Billy / Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band), who plays bass on three songs, the album was mastered by Jeff Carey and features Eiríkur Orri Ólafsson (múm) on trumpet and horn.
