Revered modern clasiscal pianist and Moritz Von Oswald collaborator, Francesco Tristano, delivers an excellent new album for Infiné. 'idiosynkrasia' melds electronics and modern composition with effortless grace, spilling into nine tracks of unique forms with a cunning feel for rhythm and hypnotic melody. 'Mambo' combines all those elements for an initial display of prowess, before slipping into the sumptuous solo piano arrangement of 'Nach wasser Noch Erde'. The album's most distinctive dancefloor moment is the excellent title track, a robust House rhythm entwined with rhodes and complex synth pad harmonics, followed by the very Isoleé-like 'Fragrance De Fraga' and the sublimely subdued solo piano piece 'Lastdays'. When he really stretches out in the final pair of tracks we're privy to his most exhilarating ideas, from the abstract 2-step and dischordant bassline of 'Single and Dopppio' to the epic 11 minute journey of 'Hello_Inner Space Dub'. Lovely stuff - highly recommended.
