Originally released on a small independent label championed by DJs lik Greg Casseus (Brazilian Beats Brooklyn). Mr Bongo presents one of the finest Brazilian albums recorded. One of the most mysteriously rare albums in the Brazilian collectors genre and one of the best examples of MPB in the mid-to-late 70s. TIP!
They have the harmonies of Sergio Mendes in the 60s, but with a groovy jazz piano and beautiful voices over the top. More samba than bossa, this record has more sophisticated phrasing that you might expect in some of the EMI/Odeon work from earlier in the decade. This solid four-piece band produce such great material ranging from vintage Noel Rosa to latter-day originals by special guest Sivuca, all delivered with true Brazilian warmth.
