Two superb early 50s R&B femme vocal cuts back to back! "Such a Much" is a real blues shouter with Mama Thornton-esque vocals from New Orleans resident Blanche Thomas. On the flip, Little Esther's quick-fire cover of Mama Thornton's signature song, adding an emphasized rumba shuffle to the usual rolling rhythm, one of the more unique interpretations of this oft-covered standard, and definitely one of the wildest. The label artwork references the Peacock label, which originally issued "Hound Dog" for Thornton. We have named it "Pelican" as that was the local New Orleans club where Blanche Thomas would regularly perform, some 50, 60 years ago.
