Philly jazz legend Byard Lancaster has travelled many roads since his first album for Atlantic
in 1967. You can hear him on 60s New York free jazz classics, fantastic free funk Parisian
albums with Jef Gilson in the early 70s (check out 'funny funky rib crib', a masterpiece just
reissued by Kindred Spirits), early 80s jamaican recordings from Big Youth or Sly and
Robbie or Bill Laswell productions from the early 90s. He stopped by le Professeur Inlassable
studio on a hot spring night this year and recorded his personnal rendering of Coltrane's Blue
Train on wich he sings his own spiritual lyrics. Le Professeur Inlassable totally reworked this
version to create a new tune 'Saint John Coltrane' on wich you can hear his trademark live mix
of classic music, beats and vocal loops.
