"Steel An' Skin were a unit composed of young nightclub musicians born in Ghana, Nigeria, St. Kitts, Trinidad and the UK, who previously played with Ginger Johnson's Afrikan Drummers. Members of the legendary 20th Century Steel Band are also present on these recordings, giving a Caribbean twist to the Afro-reggae tunes. Here Honest Jon's reissue the band's debut 12" "Reggae Is Here Once Again". Originally out in 1979 the track is a brilliant fusion of steel pans, reggae basslines and disco rhythms. Check out "Afro Punk Reggae Dub", a dubwise version excursion on "Reggae Is Here Once Again", featuring tons of echo, delay and reverb added to the mix creating an epic Caribbean disco dub. TIP!
