Although only very recently signed to the ever forward thinking Honest Jons record label, this is actually the second album from North London’s Elmore Judd. Elmore and his band produce some truly mesmerising and wonderfully composed soul while still managing to sound like a bunch pirate/gypsy/gnome/circus types! It’s a very electronic album on the whole but the warmth of the sounds and careful programming give it a very live energy– a bit like those moments on Sign Of The Times, for example. Some tracks border on disco, others a bit more ‘rocky’ but none of it comes across as trendy or forced, actually, they explore a lot of styles but seem to make everything sound like their own. This album has already had most of Rush Hour in a complete frenzy - maybe because there’s so much great stuff on this one CD. So many different things to get you hooked – timeless songs, dope and catchy melodies + hooks and some really fantastic drumming….and that’s just for a start! It’s one of those albums that takes a fair few listens before you can really begin to take it all in. Incomparable and magical stuff - if there is any justice in this world, then they should be huge. Tip and half on this one!
