Ben Watt’s Buzzin Fly kicks off 2007 in the same way they ended 2006 – deep and electronic. One of Germany’s best-kept secrets, Stuttgart’s Alexander Maier has quietly been building a reputation for himself over the past few years under his alias DJ All*Star, and latterly on Exun and Fine Recordings. Sounding like Giorgio Moroder on horse tranquilizers, “Road Of Injury’, his debut for Buzzin’ Fly is an instant dance floor killer, energized by widescreen pulsing trancey washes, an irresistible alt-Euro-disco b-line and an insistent plucked Kraftwerkian synth melody. On the flip is another original, the richly evocative ‘Made In Nebraska’, a throbbing electronic landscape of cascading pianos and dark sweeps. This is dense, modern main room electronic house at its best.
