After being inspired by releases from the likes of Jay Dee, Prefuse 73, Dabrye, AmmonContact, Sa Ra, Stones Throw Records instrumentals and so on over the last couple of years and noticing an uprise in general of beatmakers worldwide making hiphop, offbeat and 4/4 instrumentals, the idea to put out an instrumental downbeat compilation was born. The compilation will consist of a full length CD, to be released early next year, along with a doublepack album, and a series of 3 limited 12' s. All music is A&R'd and compiled by our very own DJ Cinnaman and Spacek's DJ Jay Scarlett. So here's the first 12 from the series with side A Black Pockets / 'The road' aka Steve Spacek who just had to be on the compilation because he's such a big inspiration to what's nowadays called 'beatstrumentals', Jay Scarlet's friend Veebeeo with the track 'O more' ,Side B: Kindred Spirits's artist Mweslee with the track 'Un joder suave'; when we heard this on his Myspace page, we just had to include it, Japan based artist Super Smorkey Soul with 'Smoke collage' and A'dam's Tom Trago with the cut 'Fluorgreen legged gangster'. He's a good friend of Cinnaman and a new beat kid on the block, soon coming with a mini album on the Kindred Spirits /Nod Navigator label. Watch out for this guy! Tip!
