A thorough compilation, spread out over two discs exploring '..a period in which a number of creative musicians opened their minds to new and previously unexplored worlds of musical and cultural possibilities. An awareness of the achievements of both the 1960s Jazz avant-garde and the civil rights struggle, together with an emerging appreciation of a range of different musical cultures from around the world, created a new and unique perspective from which some stunning music appeared'. On this compilation, most of the tracks date from the late sixties and seventies. It has lots of funky jazz bits like Maulawi's 'Street rap', Travis Biggs's 'Tibetan Serenity' or Alice Coltrane's 'A love supreme' taken from her World Galaxy album that has a narration by Swami Satchdiananda. Also lots of other artists like Stanley Cowell, Paris Smith, The Art Ensemble of Chiacago & Sun Ra are featured. As usual lots of photo's on the innersleeve as well as ton's of documentation. Superb!
