From the SoulJazz site: 'Soul Jazz Records latest release features classic and rare electric blues, funk and psychedelic soul music recorded in Chicago in the 1960s. This music was all released on Chess records which originally made its name from blues music. By the 1960s, however, the label was an incredibly successful record label releasing all types of black music rivaling the great American soul labels such as Atlantic Records in New York, Motown in Detroit and Stax in Memphis'
Some of the featured artists are: Bo Diddley, Etta James, ransey Lewis, little Milton, Rotary Connection ( featuring Minnie Riperton on vocals!!) and the more than legendary Charles Stepney. Tip!
