(Review powered by HJ) You may know Cedric Brooks from the Soul Jazz Dynamite series. He was a serious sax player who left Jamaica for the States in the mid 60's, became heavily influenced by Sun Ra & went back to Jamaica to express his own vision of Ra's message, fusing rastafarian drumming with Afro beat, funk & Latin. This is a sampler for a compilation of his own Light of Saba record label that has yet to come out on the HJ label. All the originals go for big bucks & are impossible to find.
This EP has four tracks going from great bluesy dub instrumentals to soulful rootsy tracks that won't stop your head nodd till the needle makes that funny noise at the end of the record... Comes in nice sleeve with classy filth like coatings on the side and artwork taken from the original 'Light of Saba' label. Essential !!
